Gig #: 5
When: Friday, 15 January 2015
Where: Lucky 13 Garage Moorabbin
With: A-L-E (A Lesser Ego), Voodoocain
Crowd: ~50
Back in Moorabbin at Lucky 13 Garage this time on a Thursday night. Very cool place, great vibe. Hosted as always by Andrew from The Hard Rock Show and this performance pre-empted our appearance on Channel 31 the coming Saturday night.
We were the opening act of 3 bands so a nice 45-50 minute set again playing most of FITS. During soundcheck Jerry’s amp decided to stop working – it worked fine 2 nights before at rehearsal! The guitarist of A-L-E gladly lent Jerry his for our set so the show can go on. Dean’s guitar strap came off during the last part of Kill The Passion, but being a Flying V he could rest it on his leg and continue to play and sing! Rob’s new bass amp sounded great and he was stoked to use it that night after buying it that afternoon. Pat was tight on the drums which were a mix of his and the house kit, drummers adapt to their environment well, foreign equipment doesn’t phase him.
The A-L-E boys played a great tight set and sounded really good. Fronted by Justin Murphy they actually have a connection with Jerry who played with them a few years ago and a couple of our songs were co-written with those boys.
Voodoocain ended the night in blistering fashion with some great hard rock, throwing in a Guns N’ Roses cover and smashing some equipment when they finished. Rock stars!
