Gig #: 4
When: Sunday, 2 November 2014
Where: Yah Yah's Fitzroy
With: FooVana
Crowd: ~60
Tonight was an all acoustic “Unplugged” show with Dean’s other band FooVana as the headline act. When the opportunity came up for HC to open we jumped at the chance. Playing our songs acoustic is slightly different to the loud electric versions but we didn’t change too much.
With Dean dislocating his knee the week before it was a welcome change to sit down for the night! Patrick played a half kit, very “Ringo-like”, and Rob played his newly purchased acoustic bass.
We played a 45 minute set of songs from FITS again, Distant Memory and Never Far Away translated well being the “softer” songs that are well suited to acoustic guitars. But we still rocked songs like Tequila Time and Kill The Passion. Jerry had to adjust his playing to include fast picking instead of tap-ons and dive-bombs!
Yah Yah’s is a cool funky little place and we had a decent crowd that enjoyed our set. We could see the crowd for once, spoke a bit more between songs and enjoyed playing in this format. We even saw people sing along to our songs – now that’s very cool!
